Divine Mercy Chaplet Counter

Tap once after each prayer of the chaplet of Divine Mercy. The counter shows the decade, the bead and the prayer that comes next, so you can keep your place without counting in your head.

How to use the Divine Mercy Chaplet counter

Say a prayer, then tap the large area (or press Space). Each tap moves you one step through the chaplet. Above the circle you see where you are, for example Decade 3 of 5; below it, the prayer you just finished, such as Sorrowful Passion prayer, bead 7 of 10, and the name of the prayer that comes next. The drawing of the beads fills in as you go, and the bar underneath shows your total progress, for example 34 of 62 steps.

− takes back one tap, even across the start of a decade. Reset saves the chaplet to the history and starts again, and it can be undone. Taps are silent unless you turn on the click sound in the settings. Keep screen on stops the phone from locking, and Full screen hides everything but the counter.

For the rosary or a mala, use the prayer counter; for dhikr, the tasbih counter.

The order of the chaplet

This is how to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet in the order the counter follows. It shows the name of each prayer only, never the text.

  1. The Sign of the Cross (on by default; you can turn it off in the settings).
  2. Optional opening prayers: the "You expired, Jesus" prayer once and the "O Blood and Water" prayer three times. Some people pray them and some do not, so they are off by default.
  3. One Our Father.
  4. One Hail Mary.
  5. The Apostles' Creed.
  6. On the large bead before each decade: the "Eternal Father" prayer.
  7. On each of the 10 small beads: the prayer that begins "For the sake of His sorrowful Passion", shown on the counter as the Sorrowful Passion prayer.
  8. Steps 6 and 7 again, for five decades in all.
  9. The "Holy God" prayer, three times.
  10. An optional closing prayer, off by default.

With the default settings a chaplet is 62 taps (61 without the Sign of the Cross). The opening prayers add 4 taps and the closing prayer adds 1. The drawing places the opening prayers on the cross and the first beads and the "Holy God" prayers on the center medal; it is a guide to where you are, and people use the beads in slightly different ways.

The chaplet is a Catholic devotion associated with Saint Faustina Kowalska. Many people pray it at 3 pm.

Questions

Can I use ordinary rosary beads?

Yes. The chaplet is prayed on rosary beads: the large bead before each group of ten carries the "Eternal Father" prayer and the ten small beads the Sorrowful Passion prayer. The counter keeps your place whether or not you hold beads.

Does it show the prayer texts?

No. It shows the name of each prayer, so you can pray from memory or from your own prayer book while it keeps count.

What counts as one tap?

One prayer is one tap, and a prayer said several times gets one tap each time: the "Holy God" prayer is three taps. That is why the default chaplet has 62 steps.

Is anything sent anywhere?

No. Your place in the chaplet, today's total and your last 50 chaplets are saved in your browser only. Share link copies your settings, never your counts or history.
