Your counts stay on your device

Each tool saves its counts, names, settings and history in your browser's local storage, under keys that start with ctr:. Your preferences for sound, vibration, keeping the screen on, light or dark mode, and your cookie choice are saved the same way. This data is not sent to us or to anyone else, is not shared between your devices, and is never included in analytics.

To make the site work offline, your browser also keeps a copy of the pages and their files in its cache.

Google Analytics, only if you accept

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which counters people use and which pages need work. It does not load at all until you click Accept on the cookie notice. If you click Reject, or do not answer, nothing is sent to Google.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets the cookies _ga and _ga_05Z13L6QCL and receives: the pages you view (without anything after ? or # in the address), the page you came from, your browser and device type, your approximate location as Google works it out from your IP address, and a few actions: starting to use a tool, copying a share link or embed code, opening a share link, printing a sheet and installing the app. It never receives your counts, scores, names, notes or anything you type. Advertising storage and ad personalization stay switched off.

You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings (also in the footer of every page); choosing Reject stops Analytics and deletes its cookies. Google handles this data under the Google Privacy Policy, and Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics on every site.

Cloudflare

counter101 is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes the technical details of each request (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without tracking you across sites. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Share links and embeds

When you press Share link, the setup is written into the link itself, after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part of a link to any server, so it goes only to the people you give the link to. Opening a share link never changes anything until you press Load.

When a counter is embedded on another website, that website's own privacy policy covers its page. The embedded counter loads no analytics and sets no cookies, and still saves only in the visitor's browser. The display window used for scoreboards on a second screen also loads no analytics.

What we do not do

There are no accounts, no sign-up forms and no advertising. We do not sell or share personal data. If advertising is ever added, this page will be updated first to say what is used and how to opt out.

Deleting your data

Use Reset, New game or the delete buttons in each tool, or clear this site's data in your browser settings. Clearing site data removes every count, setting and your cookie choice at once, and cannot be undone. To remove Analytics cookies only, choose Reject in Cookie settings.
