How to use the volleyball scoreboard
After each rally, tap the big score of the team that won it. The point goes to that team and so does the serve, shown by the Serving tag. When a team reaches the set score with a lead of at least two, the set is won: the board plays a tune, adds the set to the list below and starts the next set at 0 to 0. When a team has won enough sets, the match is over.
To start a set with the other team serving, press Serve under that team. Undo takes back the last point, even the one that ended a set, and Swap sides moves the teams when they change ends.
For a sport with a game clock, use the online scoreboard or the basketball scoreboard.
Want the players and fans to see it? Open display window gives a second, view-only window with the rally score, sets won, finished set scores and who serves. Pull it across to the projector or TV hooked up to this computer, then tap its Full screen button. Chart traces every set rally by rally, and Share link passes the match on.
Keyboard shortcuts
- A or ←: one point to the team on the left
- L or →: one point to the team on the right
- Shift with any of those: take a point off
- S: swap sides
- U or Ctrl+Z: undo
- F: full screen
- M: sound on or off
Holding a key down scores once, so a stuck key cannot run the score away.
Scoring settings
The board uses rally scoring, where every rally wins a point for one team. By default a match is best of 5 sets, sets are played to 25 and the deciding set to 15, and every set must be won by two points. Change any of these in Settings: for example, beach volleyball usually plays best of 3 with sets to 21 and a deciding set to 15. Your match is saved in your browser, so a refresh never loses it.
Questions
What happens at 24 to 24?
Play goes on until one team leads by two points, for example 26 to 24. The board has no upper limit on a set score.
How do I fix a point given to the wrong team?
Press Undo (or U). It removes the point and gives the serve back, and it can go back into the previous set if that point ended it.
Can I play a best of 3 match?
Yes. Choose Best of 3 sets in Settings. The third set then uses the deciding set score.
Can I download the match?
Press Download CSV for every point with the time, set, team and the score after it, plus the score of each finished set.
