Basketball Lineup Builder

Set your starting five on a half court, keep the rest of the roster on the bench, and plan everyone's minutes before tip-off.

How to use the basketball lineup builder

The page opens with five starters on a half court in the usual spots: point guard (PG) up top, shooting guard (SG) and small forward (SF) on the wings, power forward (PF) and center (C) near the basket. Seven more players wait on the bench, room for a twelve-player roster; remove the ones you do not need. Tap any player to type a name and a jersey number or to change the position label, and drag players to sketch your own set.

To change the starting five, tap the starter who sits, then Swap in on the bench player who replaces them, or drag the bench player's handle onto the starter. Bench sends a starter off without a replacement, and Add player signs up one more. Team name and color are in Settings.

It works as a basketball roster builder for a school, club or rec team, and as an NBA lineup builder for an NBA-style lineup you put together yourself: type any names you like. It has no real rosters, team names, logos or stats and is not connected with the NBA.

Plan minutes for the rotation

Open Minutes plan under the court. Enter the number of periods and the minutes in each, for example 4 periods of 8 minutes or 2 halves of 20; game length differs by league and age group. Five players are on the floor the whole time, so a 32-minute game has 160 player minutes to share out. Type planned minutes next to each player and the page adds them up and shows how many are still open, or how many too many. Split evenly shares the total across the whole roster in whole minutes, never more than the game length for one player.

The plan is a guide, not a rule: fouls, injuries and the score change it during the game. Keep score with the basketball scoreboard, and use the lineup builder for other sports or the formation builder for soccer shapes.

Questions

How do I save the lineup or send it to my assistant coach?

Every change is kept in this browser. Share link makes a link with the roster, the court and the minutes plan. If the roster and notes are too long for a link, Export file downloads a file the other coach opens with Import file.

Can I print the lineup for the bench or the scorer's table?

Yes. Print gives the court with the starting five, then a table with every jersey number, name, position, starter or bench, and planned minutes. Copy as text gives a short list to paste into a message.

Can I show the starting five on a TV in the locker room?

Press Open display window on a laptop that is connected to the TV, drag the new window there and press Full screen. It shows the court, the starters and the bench, and updates as you change the lineup on the laptop.

Does this basketball lineup builder upload anything?

No. The roster, the minutes and your notes stay in this browser on your device. There is no account, and nothing is sent anywhere unless you share a link or a file yourself.
