How to use the curling scoreboard
Before the first end, press Hammer under the team that throws the last stone. When the end is over, count the scoring team's points: tap its big number or press +1 once for each stone that counts. The points show in the current column of the end-by-end board. Then press End done. The end is added to the board, the totals update and the hammer moves if needed.
No stone in the house? Press End done without adding points and the end is recorded as a blank end. Put points on the wrong team? Press −1 under it before you finish the end, or use Undo afterwards. Print blank sheet gives you a paper sheet for your number of ends plus two extra ends, and Print sheet prints this game.
Open display window puts the scores, the end number, the hammer and the last ends on a second screen for the club room. Chart shows each team's total after every end. For another target game, try the shuffleboard score keeper or the cornhole scoreboard.
How curling scoring works
- Only one team scores in an end: the team with the stone closest to the center of the house. It gets one point for each of its stones that is closer than the other team's closest stone.
- In the four-player game each team throws 8 stones, so an end is worth 8 points at most. The board will not let both teams score in the same end.
- The team that scores gives the hammer, the last stone of the next end, to the other team. After a blank end the hammer stays where it was.
- Club games are often 8 ends and championship games 10. Choose Ends in a game in Settings. If the score is tied after the last end, the board asks for an extra end and keeps going until one team wins it.
Keyboard shortcuts
- A or ←: 1 point for the left team in this end; L or →: the same for the right team; add Shift to take one off
- P: end done
- H: give the hammer to the other team
- 1 and 6: 1 point for the left or right team; 2 and 7: hammer to that team
- S: switch sides; U or Ctrl+Z: undo; F: full screen; M: mute
Questions
Can I change an end that is already finished?
Use Undo. It steps back one action at a time, including End done, so you can reopen the last end, fix the points and finish it again.
Does it keep a thinking time clock?
No. It keeps the score, the ends and the hammer only. For a simple timer beside it, open a clock on another device.
Can I use it for mixed doubles?
You can keep the score end by end, since only one team scores per end there too, but the board is made for the four-player game and does not follow the other rules of mixed doubles.
Where is the score kept?
In your browser on this device, saved after every tap. Closing the page or refreshing keeps the whole game, and nothing is sent anywhere.
