How to use the jump rope counter
Pick 30 s, 1 min, 2 min, 3 min or Free. Tap the big number or press Start, and a 3, 2, 1 countdown plays before the clock starts. Then tap once for every jump. The time left and your jumps per minute update as you go. When the time runs out a horn sounds and your result appears, with a tune if it beats your personal best for that length.
Free has no time limit: press Stop when you are done. Stopping a timed challenge early saves the attempt as stopped, and it does not count as a personal best.
For strength sets, use the rep counter with its rest timer; for laps, the lap counter.
Counting is by tapping
This counter does not detect jumps by itself. It counts one jump each time the screen is tapped, the mouse is clicked or a key is pressed. The easiest way is for a friend to tap while you jump. On your own, place a laptop or a keyboard where you can reach it, or count out loud and tap along. A miscount can be fixed with − or the down arrow.
Chart, print and share
Open Chart to see your jumps per minute across past attempts at the chosen length, with your best marked in green. Print sheet prints your attempts and personal bests. Share link copies a link with the chosen length and countdown setting, so a friend can try the same challenge.
Keyboard shortcuts
- Space, Enter or ↑: start, then count a jump
- ↓: take one jump off
- S: start or stop
- U or Ctrl+Z: undo
- F: full screen
- M: sound on or off
Holding a key down counts once, and taps in the moment after a challenge ends are ignored so a late tap does not start a new one.
Questions
How are jumps per minute worked out?
Jumps per minute is your jumps divided by the time so far, scaled to one minute. It appears after the first 3 seconds, so the first few taps do not show a misleading number.
Where are my personal bests kept?
In your browser, one best for each length (30 seconds, 1, 2 and 3 minutes). Nothing is sent anywhere. Clear history removes the attempts and bests, and can be undone straight after.
Can I turn off the countdown?
Yes. Untick the 3, 2, 1 countdown in Settings and the clock starts on your first tap.
Can I save my attempts?
Press Download CSV for a file with every attempt (date, length, jumps, time and jumps per minute) and your personal bests.
