How to keep the softball score
Made for the teams, parents and league volunteers who keep the softball score at their own field, fast pitch or slow pitch. Enter both team names first. The away side hits in the top half of every inning and the home side in the bottom half.
Each pitch is one tap: Ball, Strike or Foul. Record outs with Out, runs with +1 Run and base hits with Hit. Error is charged to the team in the field. Touch first, second or third on the diamond to mark a runner there or clear the bag. A Home run brings in everybody on base plus the batter. When a play ends an at-bat some other way, set the runners and tap New batter.
Parents in the stands can follow along on a second screen: Open display window puts the full line score, count and bases in a separate window. There is also a baseball scoreboard set to nine innings, and a two-team scoreboard with a clock for timed sports.
Innings, count and the mercy rule
The board is set to 7 innings, the usual length of a softball game; change it in Settings for shorter games. When the home side is ahead after the visitors bat in the final inning, it is over, and the home box for that inning shows X. A home run or single that puts the home side ahead in the bottom of the seventh or any extra inning ends it on the spot, and a tie after seven keeps adding innings.
The count works the standard way: ball four sends the batter to first and pushes forced runners ahead, strike three is an out, and three outs switch sides. A foul with two strikes does not change the count here. In slow pitch, many leagues call the batter out on a foul with two strikes instead; if yours does, tap Out. Mercy rules differ a lot between leagues and age groups, so the mercy rule is off until you switch it on and type your own run lead and inning.

Questions
Does it work for fast pitch and slow pitch?
Yes. The line score, outs and innings are the same. Where your league's rules differ, such as a mercy rule or a shorter game, use Settings.
Where is the score saved?
In this browser on this device, after every tap. Close the page and it is still there when you come back. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Can I print a scoresheet?
Yes. Print sheet prints the line score of the current game with runs, hits and errors. Print blank sheet prints four empty line scores to fill in by hand.
Can another coach see the score?
Press Share link to copy a link with the teams, line score and count. Whoever opens it gets a copy of the game on their own device.
