How to use the netball scoreboard
When a shooter scores, press +1 Goal under that team or tap its big number. The Center pass arrow in the middle then flips to the other team, because center passes alternate after every goal whoever scored it. If the arrow is ever wrong, for example at the start of the game, tap it to switch it by hand.
Start runs the quarter clock down from 15:00 and the horn sounds at zero. Next moves to the next quarter; the center pass arrow carries on from where it was. Took a goal off by mistake? −1 removes it and moves the arrow back, and Undo reverses any other tap.
Open display window puts the score, the quarter, the clock and the center pass arrow on a second screen for the crowd and the benches. Quarters, extra time and two-point goals
A standard game has four quarters of 15 minutes, which is where the clock starts. Junior, school and social netball often play shorter quarters, so set your length under Quarter length in Settings. After the fourth quarter, Next opens extra time, whose length is also a setting, because competitions decide how a drawn game is settled.
Some competitions give 2 points for a goal from further out in the circle. Tick Two-point goals in Settings to add a +2 button under each team. A two-point goal also passes the center pass to the other team.
Keyboard shortcuts
- A or ←: goal for the left side; L or →: goal for the right side; add Shift to take it back
- 1 and 6: +1 for the left and right team (with two-point goals on, 2 and 7 add 2)
- C: switch the center pass arrow
- Space: run or stop the clock; P: next quarter
- S: switch ends; U or Ctrl+Z: undo; F: full screen; M: mute
Questions
Who takes the first center pass?
That is settled before the game, usually by a toss. Tap the arrow so it points at the team that starts, and from then on the board switches it after every goal.
Can I pause the clock for an injury?
Yes. Press Pause or the Space bar. To correct the time, tap the clock and type the minutes and seconds left.
Does it work on a phone at the side of the court?
Yes. The board fits a phone screen, every tap is saved in your browser straight away, and Keep screen on stops the phone from going to sleep during a quarter.
