How to use the water polo scoreboard
Press +1 Goal or tap the big number when a team scores. Exclusion adds one to the team's exclusion count, and Timeout uses one of its timeouts and stops the clock. Start runs the quarter clock down from 8:00 and the horn sounds at zero. Next goes to the next quarter.
Water polo is timed in actual playing time, so pause the clock with Space whenever the referee stops play and start it again on the restart. The time stays right through a refresh or a locked phone because it is worked out from when you pressed Start.
Open display window shows the score, quarter, clock, exclusions and timeouts on a second screen for the bench and the stands. Other boards: the handball scoreboard and the plain online scoreboard.
Quarter length and timeouts
The board starts with four quarters of 8 minutes, the length in international play. Many high school, college and age group games use different lengths, so set yours under Quarter length in Settings. The number of timeouts per team differs between rule books too: it starts at 2 per game and is a setting. Overtime, if your rules use it, has its own length setting.
The exclusion count is a simple tally per team, so you can see at a glance how many each side has had. It does not run a re-entry timer.
Keyboard shortcuts
- A / L: goal to the left or right team (Shift for minus one)
- 1: goal and 2: exclusion for the left team; 6 and 7 for the right team
- Space: start or stop the game clock; P: next quarter
- S: swap the teams' sides; U: undo; F: full screen; M: sound on or off
Questions
Can I use it on a phone by the pool?
Yes. The page works on any phone, and Keep screen on stops it from locking in browsers that support it. Everything is saved in the browser, so nothing is lost if it does lock.
Does it run a shot clock?
No. It keeps the game clock, the score, exclusions and timeouts. Use a separate shot clock if your game needs one.
How do I give back a timeout?
Press Undo straight away, or open Settings and press Refill timeouts to give both teams their full number again.
Can I change the clock time?
Tap the clock or press Edit time, type the minutes and seconds and press Set time.
